A VISION TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE & MODERN CONSTRUCTION

The World Commission on Environment and Development defines sustainability as development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. When applying this complex concept to architecture, it then refers to design that creates healthy living environments while aiming to minimise negative environmental impacts, energy consumption, and use of human resources. Sustainable architecture is reflected in a building’s materials, construction methods, resource use and design in general. The design must also facilitate sustainable operation during the building life cycle, including its ultimate disposal. While it has to be functional and aesthetically superior, the space has to be constructed with the mind-set of achieving long-term energy and resource efficiency. Sustainable architecture is also referred to as green architecture or environmental architecture. It challenges architects to produce smart designs and use available ...

FAST & RELIABLE

Reliable construction doesn’t just mean turning up on site – it’s a whole raft of careful planning, and a very broad range of building skills and knowledge. There’s a lot at stake in building, renovating or extending a property. The financial cost is a major consideration, of course, but also the emotional investment from everyone involved. The ‘Galower experience’ is all about duty of care that includes seeing your family happily settled in their new home. It’s really important to Galower Build that the whole experience of working with us is a good one. A building project impacts on people’s lives – the owner, the architect, the building professionals and, of course, the neighbours. For this reason, we take our work very seriously. We also enjoy building high quality properties, and working with other skilled and creative people.

MINIMALISTIC APPROACH

Minimalist architecture, sometimes referred to as 'minimalism', involves the use of simple design elements, without ornamentation or decoration. Proponents of minimalism believe that condensing the content and form of a design to its bare essentials, reveals the true 'essence of architecture'. Minimalist architecture emerged from the Cubist-inspired movements of De Stijl and Bauhaus in the 1920s. Architects such as Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, theorised that minimalism gave maximum power to architectural space.

ASTOUNDING MEGA STRUCTURES

The high-rise building is generally defined as one that is taller than the maximum height which people are willing to walk up; it thus requires mechanical vertical transportation. This includes a rather limited range of building uses, primarily residential apartments, hotels, and office buildings, though occasionally including retail and educational facilities. A type that has appeared recently is the mixed-use building, which contains varying amounts of residential, office, hotel, or commercial space. High-rise buildings are among the largest buildings built, and their unit costs are relatively high; their commercial and office functions require a high degree of flexibility.

MODERN DESIGNS

Modern architecture is a style of building that emphasizes function and a streamlined form over ornamentation. This design aesthetic is a departure from more elaborate and decorated homes like Queen Anne, Victorian, or Gothic Revival styles. Modern architecture usually involves sharp, clean lines. To some people, modern and contemporary architecture are the same thing. However, modern architecture was inspired by an art movement known as modernism and lasted until around 1960. Contemporary architecture incorporates architecture past the 1960s and leading up to today. In short, contemporary architecture is reflective of styles in this current moment, which happen to be very diverse.  Modern homes were revolutionary in that they embraced the concept of free-flowing space. The ideology also rejected clutter and excess belongings. However, as the design period went on, many architects challenged this strict notion of space and lack of stuff as cold and impersonal. This evolution brough...
